Agent Reach: give your AI agent the rest of the internet

One CLI that lets Claude Code, Codex and other agents read YouTube, Reddit, X, GitHub, Bilibili and XiaoHongShu, with no API fees. What it reaches, its stars and how to install it.

Coding agents can search the web and read a page, but they hit a wall at video transcripts, logged-in feeds and most Chinese platforms. Agent Reach installs and tests the tools behind those sites so your agent can use them with one command.

What is this repo

Agent Reach is an open-source CLI and agent skill that works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw and any agent that can run commands. Every platform follows the same pattern:

bash
agent-reach channels # what's available and what each can do
agent-reach youtube search "next.js 16" # agent-reach <channel> <action> [args]
agent-reach read https://www.v2ex.com/t/123 # picks the right channel from the link

Each action has an ordered list of tools behind it. If the first one breaks after a platform change, it falls back to the next, so your agent's commands stay the same.

Default channels work out of the box. Optional ones switch on when you ask ("add Reddit"). Experimental ones work but can break whenever the platform tightens its anti-scraping.

How many stars

At the time of writing (31 October 2026) Agent Reach has 106,879 GitHub stars and 9,501 forks.

  • Language: Python
  • License: MIT
  • Latest release: v1.6.0 (23 October 2026)
  • Docs: the main README is in Chinese; the English README is in docs/

How to install it

1. Send this to your agent

Installing and upgrading both use the same line. Paste it into Claude Code or Codex:

text
Install Agent Reach: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Panniantong/Agent-Reach/main/docs/install.md

The agent does the rest. Along the way it may:

  1. Ask you to allow it to run commands
  2. Install uv, a small installer that needs no admin password
  3. Tell you which channels already work and which optional ones you can add

The agent-reach package on PyPI is not this project. Only install from the GitHub link above.

2. Manage it in plain English

Everything lives in ~/.agent-reach/, so upgrades and removal are clean:

You sayIt does
"Check Agent Reach status"Lists which channels work and which broke since last time
"Add Reddit" / "Remove Reddit"Installs or removes that channel and its login
"Switch account" / "Log out"Opens a login window for you, or clears that site's login
"Upgrade Agent Reach"Updates the program and every channel's tools
"Uninstall Agent Reach"Lists what it will delete and waits for you to confirm

Before you log in

  • It's read-only: it searches and reads, and never posts, comments, likes or sends messages.
  • It never logs in for you or asks for passwords. For logged-in sites it copies that one site's session from your Chrome into its own background browser.
  • That copy is usually your main account, and platforms can limit accounts that browse automatically. Use a secondary account for Reddit, X and the other login channels.
  • Set API keys in your own terminal with agent-reach configure groq-key, never in the chat.

Worth a look

The troubleshooting guide covers expired logins and broken channels. Credit goes to the tools underneath it: yt-dlp, Jina Reader, OpenCLI and bili-cli.
